We added a second breed
to our operation in 1991. Black Angus was the natural choice because
Herefords and Angus compliment each other and are the two most widely
used maternal breeds in the industry. Both can be successfully bred to
their own kind; are the base for most other cross-breeding programs; and
make an exceptional cross together. The length, femininity and overall
capacity of the herd is something all cow men can appreciate.
We’ve developed a
strain of Angus which thrive in our high altitude and harsh environment.
Our foundation Angus cows were predominantly AAR New Trend breeding and
have made a good base on which to develop such a herd. We’ve line-bred
the cows with known the low PAP genetics of EXT and a specific low PAP
Travelodge line. As a result, our Angus are more rugged and lower PAP
than 20 years ago. The cows have been down-sized, are less fragile and
have a greater capacity. The cattle are three dimensional and match our
Herefords in terms of muscle.
Our Angus cattle are
free of Arthrogryposis Multiplex (curly calf syndrome) and Neuropathic
Hydrocephalus.

SBA 4006 Travelodge 803U is a double bred Travelodge
sired by 4006 and out of an exceptional 0051 daughter. He is a free
moving, good footed bull with a lot of muscle. His calves
averaged 77 lbs at birth in 2010 and 79 lbs in 2011.
959W was selected to replace
his sire because of his phenotype & his dam's record. He's an easy
fleshing, muscular individual. Two bull calves from his first crop
(calved in 2011) will sell. The crop averaged 81 lbs. at birth.

SBA Travelodge 503R was one of the thickest 0051 sons we've raised.
He was an easy fleshing individual who sired muscle, overall
performance, but low birth weight. His dam has been one of the
best in the herd.
605S was a clean fronted calving ease bull whose dam is a stylish
0051 cow with eye appeal. We lost this low PAP bull late this
summer. Some top bulls sired by him will sell.

EXT 06M was
an own son of N Bar Emulation EXT who is known for his ideal growth
curve, longevity and producing excellent females with optimal udders.
06M’s PAP was 38 and with PR Travelodge 0051, can take credit for
lowering the PAP of our Angus herd. He covered a lot of cows since he
was a yearling and each year he held his flesh well. The exceptional
quality of his calves earned him a lot of respect in our herd bull
roster. He had a 70 pound birth weight and his mother is a high
performing daughter of Thomas 7197 of 1418 and out of one of the best
original AAR New Trend cow families.Play video.
